Fire Alert, Moulsham Street 18-07-09

It's all a bit too much for 9 a.m. Saturday morning - 2 fire engines charging down the High Street with lights and sirens waking up the shoppers. Luckily it seemed to be an alert rather than a fiery incident. I wonder if it had anything to do with the dreadful stink of overripe cheese that pervaded this part of town (making an interesting olfactory counterpoint to the sickly stench emanating from Lush).
Here's the driver smiling for the camera just before the crews returned to the fire engines. I had a quick chat with him as well, before the fire engines departed. Hopefully he found the pics on Flickr.
It was evidently a busy day for Chelmsford firefighters as I saw fire engines zipping around town in full lights-and-sirens mode twice more during the 2 hours I was in town.

You should have persuaded them to douse Lush with extra water in passing - I can't bear the smell of those shops.
Now there's and idea. But it would have played havoc with all the soap and bath stuff washing into the river nearby.
